Dear Peter & Hilary, Joe & Louise, Kulsum, Rosie & Mukhtar, Betty & Benny

PARADISE ZANZIBAR HERE WE COME – GUIDELINE NOTES

At long last the time has come for our holiday in Zanzibar where we will all be staying at Neptunes 5 star all-inclusive hotel.

This message is just a quick guideline note as a reminder though in general we have discussed most issues connected to our holiday in Zanzibar.

First of all Betty and I welcome our special friends Peter & Hilary Joe & Louise who are visiting Zanzibar for the very first time.

We wish you a great holiday on our island where I was born and am sure you will have a fabulous holiday.

We also welcome Kulsum, Rosie and Mukhtar who will be joining us from the 3rd November and though, ex-Zanzibaris it is so wonderful you have joined our party where  with your good company we are all out for a grand time at Neptunes.

We have a few more friends who will join us for a few days arriving towards the end of our stay at Neptunes.

LISTED BELOW ARE JUST A FEW REMINDERS.

Passports.
Don’t forget your passports and other travel documents (travel insurance documents etc). Suggest you put these most important documents in your travel hand bag right now and not leave for the last moment. If possible take a photocopy of your passport.

Don’t forget your Yellow Fever valid certificate. Most important.

Don’t forget to keep USD 50 cash aside which is for your Visa issued on arrival. (It must be USD & not £ Stg).

Don’t forget your Malaria tablets and also Mosquito repellent which can be obtained from boots. (This is an added precaution as in the past we though not been bitten, think as our hotel is by the sea, suggest you bring this as a safeguard).

Currency accepted in Zanzibar is our £ stg and USD. (Easy to exchange either for the local shillings – don’t know the exact exchange rates right now).

OTHER TIPS
If you have any medication, please remember to bring it along in your hand luggage just as a safeguard should your baggage get misplaced or lost, you have your medication with you. (At the airport you are offered plastic bags to put your medication).

Remember you are allowed 2 suitcases each 22kg each so I would suggest try and keep your hand luggage light as we often have to walk up and down stairs on departure from one gate to another. This time Betty and I are not taking any hand luggage which I think the allowance is about 5 or 7 Kg. (Check this out and make sure you do not exceed the allowed amount as they will be quick to charge you excess baggage). Betty is only taking her hand bag and I am taking my mini laptop bag which will have our passports and am allowed to take my mini guitar.

As we are all making your own way to Heathrow Airport, we should all meet up prior to checking. We have our seats reserved. Plans we meet between 4.00 pm - 4.30 pm.

Please make your way to the airport well in time allowing for stoppages on the roads and hold ups with heavy traffic. Remember check-in is normally 3 hours before departure.

OTHER POINTS TO NOTE.
We have not organised any excursions in advance and as such we will do the planning whilst at Neptunes. There is a big choice of exciting excursions and for the first time visitors to the island, we will do all we can to make sure you enjoy Zanzibar to its fullest.  wePeter and Hilary, the excursion to the Spice Farm is a must and I have already organised the very best guide from Madeira Tours to do the needful as he did us proud in the past being well experienced with all the spices etc.

EXCURSIONS / GENERAL TRANSPORT
Travel expenses on excursions will be shared by all members travelling together. We will split the costs equally on each trip.

I am not sure whether Neptunes has a special shuttle service to Stone Town as there could be times one or two members of the party may want to make it to town. Will find out on arrival and hope this facility is available as it would be costly to hire a private car. (Remember we have all our fun and entertainment at the hotel again all-inclusive).

TRANSFERS
Our transport from Zanzibar airport to our hotel has been organised where Tony Madeira will be meeting us at the airport.

CLOTHING
As you all know Zanzibar gets too hot, daytime short sleeve shirts and short trousers for the men are fine. Ladies, you know best.
Dont forget your swim ware (bikinis etc all allowed)!!!

In the evenings, I suggest long sleeve shirts (clothing smart put casual) is fine. Remember we are at a 5-star hotel where the standards are high. Don’t really recommend jeans but at the end of the day it is your choice which I cannot dictate. Feel free and easy to dress as you please.

DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERAS
Too much to capture on the island so click away - Good Memories to take home!!

AT NEPTUNES
We have lots of entertainment organised by Neptunes from morning to night from sporting activities, dancing etc. There are also some Theme nights which will be held in the open air under the starry skies and though hot, it can get a bit chilly at nights so suggest bring a light wrap just in case but not necessary. Betty never feels the cold and takes nothing extra.

Last but not least.
Dear team - If you at any time experience any problems at Neptunes needing attention, please oblige and first bring it to my notice and I will deal with the problem(s) directly with parties conerned as I have to monitor every problem or complaint (hopefully there will be none) to analyse the quality of the hotel as I am planning a REUNION next year held at NEPTUNES where already many folks from Canada and Australia want to attend besides folks from the UK and hopefully the Middle East.

Once again, I very much would appreciate you first consult me on any issues needing attention. From
past experiences with most of the hotels in Zanzibar, they go out of their way to make sure any problems are resolved on the spot. Many thanks - Benny.

That’s all folks. Let’s go out and enjoy a great holiday on Paradise Island Zanzibar. If you have any questions please feel free to call me or email as we only have a couple of days left before departure.

Best regards
Benny (your local guide in Zanzibar).
